This too will pass – won’t it?
First day at home as sole grown up in charge of baby and child.
And yesterday the television broke.

Other people’s blogs can be so inspirational, can’t they? I first found out about the bookmagazinebook project through Ladycracker’s post about her contribution, and I signed up straight away.
Then when I read Ampersand Duck’s recent entry about her bookmagazinebook I thought “shit, it’s about time I did mine” – which has been sitting in a little envelope here for a few weeks underneath a pile of other neglected things.
I scored issue 6 – WORK!WORK!WORK! which is one of those tiny little spiral notebooks. Of course I don’t do WORK! at the moment, not in a going to work sense anyway. (Which really means for money, doesn’t it, although the baby bonus did go in the bank t’other day. PS I STILL THINK YOU’RE A CNUT JOHN HOWARD, DO YOU HEAR ME?)
This photo is from the bookmagazinebook site.
So my page is very home-made, and stuck in, from outside that world of WORK! It’s a circle the size of Jethro’s vast head, which unfolds to show a copy of the graph they plot your baby’s growth on for the first three years of its life.
If you’re keen to participate, read this then email johnbonbailey at hotmail dot com. If you’d like to do an entry in this issue, leave a comment or email and I’ll arrange to send it on to you.
I had thought that the man from Radio National saying nice things to me in an email after I’d said their “blogger” segments were wilfully stupid was a one-off attributable to seasonal considerations, but the niceness in response to blog rudeness continues.
A couple of years ago I talked about the marvellous Translyvaniacs, and got quite snippy about the between-song-commentary. They are coming back to town and are MUCH nicer than me. I know this because they wrote to offer me a free ticket to their show.
Sadly, having a tiny infant who’s big on what I like to call the clustersuck makes it impossible for me to go. Sniff.
However you should certainly go – they’ll be at the Merry Muse at the Polish Club in Turner from 8pm next Saturday, February 10.
Remember that they’re gypsies, so if you leave your horse outside make sure it’s securely tied.
When I had Sage I didn’t have a computer, and I didn’t read blogs. It’s very handy to have a pastime that you can enjoy in ten minute snatches in between tending to a tiny and very sweet little person.
He sleeps at night! We love him so! He’s getting fat, too, which is great. I like a fat little baby. Unfortunately so do the descending hordes of clucky Ladies at the supermarket who have lipstick on their teeth and giant sharp rings and want to fondle my poor little infant.
Also, I may never eat pumpkin soup again. I expect all parents will know why.
