Hot gig tip!
I had thought that the man from Radio National saying nice things to me in an email after I’d said their “blogger” segments were wilfully stupid was a one-off attributable to seasonal considerations, but the niceness in response to blog rudeness continues.
A couple of years ago I talked about the marvellous Translyvaniacs, and got quite snippy about the between-song-commentary. They are coming back to town and are MUCH nicer than me. I know this because they wrote to offer me a free ticket to their show.
Sadly, having a tiny infant who’s big on what I like to call the clustersuck makes it impossible for me to go. Sniff.
However you should certainly go – they’ll be at the Merry Muse at the Polish Club in Turner from 8pm next Saturday, February 10.
Remember that they’re gypsies, so if you leave your horse outside make sure it’s securely tied.

They rocked, Zoe. And now I have to go back and read your post about their stage banter…

I’m glad you went, Crit, they totally rock in a gypsy-style fashion. They’re back for the Folk Festival, so hopefully I can catch them there.

Gemma’s record was five hours straight. I hope Jethro isn’t doing that to you too often.

They should be, and next week the cimbalom player and female bass player, and the cimbalom player’s violinist partner are back at the folk club, playing slightly different stuff, but still similar. Not sure if I can get to it though…

I thought the Radio National blog things weren’t bad…really.

What about the Janet Albrechtson one, Darlene? Is she a blogger?
(And I was IN NO WAY SURPRISED that Ms Albrechtson is the kind of person who uses “Absolutely!” about 14 times in each sentence.)

came here because three close chums link to you
sorry but i will not be value adding during my visit
can’t even remember what i wanted to comment about – notice you commented about radio national – but i don’t think it was that
ah that’s right – make sure you don’t accidentally park your car across one of the driveways of the croatian club (next door to the polish club) – now you may doubt me, but in the dark this is not the hardest thing to do
but should you find yourself doing so, you might also find your car subject to accidental (?- well i don’t really think the damage was intentional – just down to their stupidity) vandalism as the dikhed youths who hang about said club move your car by lifting it up by the bits over the wheels – the wheel arches ? with their pudgy unsophisticated, tainted by racial prejudice and stupid sexist balkan ideology hands
not that it was necessary to move the car – because of the second driveway – but these chaps wanted a reason to be outraged – and stupid me accidentally gave them one
and perhaps i should not judge the lads so harshly – difficult childhood and all – inadequate education – inability to see that such a park might indeed be accidental – but i met them and they were fools to a (nearly) man
that is cool i see you have a preview – before you even finish – how neat is that!
so anyway – be careful parking round turner way
and you have yourself a super day!
