Today’s discovery, via ArtWranglers, is the divine little moment you will have when you go to this page and click on this → thumbnail which is the top left one at the site.

It’s week 1 of 16 in the project, in case you’re looking at this post and that link in, like, the future.

The artist is Charlie Sofo. You can see some of his works here. I would like to link to his online gallery, but as the upgrade I just did of it KILLED IT STONE DEAD, I won’t. I will just calmly beat my head against the table.

And bye-the-bye I finally sent Sage to school today, for the third time in the last two weeks, only to have the school call at 11:30 because he’d been coughing so hard he vomited into a book. I asked him if he did it because he thought it was a crap book and he said “Cuggle*, I would never do that!”

I’m off to play the video again and suffuse myself with some quiet Charlie joy.

* Fucking Cuggle. With a very pronounced rising inflection and a verrrry extended second syllable. Even the grownups are calling me Cuggle now.

viz a tiny piece of chorizo that has been cooked in hearty bean soup, eaten, vomited on to a cot sheet and gone through the looooooong cycle on the washing machine is still, identifiably, chorizo. No shit.

Camping is intense

We packed by moonlight. Which sucked a bit.

Something seemed wrong as we set off. It was that we were driving away from the sun and in to the dark clouds.

But there was ~~hungry~~ friendly wildlife to greet our arrival.

This is Jethro doing Gumboots 101. He passed, but he had to do the supplementary.

Day three of rain seemed unendurable.

However excellent cocktails raised everyone’s spirits. Well not the kids. We just gave them chocolate.

We have too much in this consumer society, don’t you think? For instance, did you know that a VB can wtih a ringpull inside makes an excellent rattle?

Eventually the sun came out. Yay and Hallalujah.

There was Harry Potter by headlamp.

And later I pondered my ugg boots …

while listening to pretty guitar doodlings and drinking some Lagavulin.

There are always moments of ennui camping, but seasoned campers can rise above them.

Particularly when there is a second day of sun,

and then a third.

But then arriving home brings its own sadnesses.

The grubby beige thing in the second photo is his hip brace; the expression in the first photo is what you look like when you are rubbing your bottom tooth in the gap where your front tooth will be once it cuts through and you cease resembling The Count from Sesame Street.

Thanks to Granny for her knitting magic. It even has a label inside that says “Made with love by Grandma”.

And lo, the populace with eyes downcast feared they may have rejoiced too soon …
